POEM No. 15: A Godless Society

By: Bro. Emmanuel Imbali (Kenya Division)
★★★★★★★★★★
These people worship Me with their mouths. I call it lip-service,
But their hearts are far away from Me. No sincere service,
Their fear towards me is taught by precepts of men,
And this they do every now and then,
Their works in the dark they ask, “who has seen us?”
They forget that God who is in heaven has,
This is a curse.
What a Godless society,
They have forgotten that God is mighty,
The people are so haughty,
In spiritual things they are behind,
God has given them over to a reprobate mind,
Because they don’t like to retain God in their knowledge,
The word God to their flinty hearts is not an entering wedge.
They strive to keep the outward ceremonies,
They have become sin colonies,
Deluded they are; rich and increased with goods,
In real sense they are poor, naked, wretched, blind and fools,
Lying tongues are their tools,
To them comes the resounding woes,
They have followed the footsteps of their fathers; the Jews.
They are mere professors,
To the pure truths they are bitter opposers,
Preach to us smooth things. Is what they say these proposers,
The love of many has waxed cold,
This was foretold in times of old,
The root of all evil is their treasure,
And what they love most of all is pleasure.
They have the examples of people who felt the wrath of God’s displeasure,
But still they continue in their own leisure,
God will visit them when they least expect,
Yes, He will come to inspect,
Blessed is he who hold fast,
Blessed is he who has no time to lust,
For the day of reckoning is coming and this is a must.
