POEM No. 7: Child Guidance

By: Bro. Emmanuel Imbali (Kenya Division)

★★★★★★★★★★

I think therefore I am,
Children are a blessing,
That means child bearing is a good thing,
Blessings come with responsibilities,
Yes, that is what it is,
Many parents have failed in this,
They have left their children to grow like weeds,
Never pleasing in their deeds,
A child rarely follows a parent as he leads,
That means they always want their own way.

Children are reared like grasshoppers,
So sad and so bad,
The love of many has waxed cold,
Inequities are in manifold,
Many cases untold,
This generation doesn’t like to retain God in their knowledge,
Their hearts are too flinty for an entering wedge,
The reason being is poor child guidance,
Child guidance requires God’s guidance.

The Lord will ask you of the flock He gave thee,
That’s when you’ll have to pay your negligence’s fee,
Parents, this is the season to reason with yourself,
Are you walking in faith as thou saith?
If so take up the full responsibility,
In Christ Jesus you have the ability,
Work out your family’s salvation while tis still today,
Let not your children be Satan’s prey,
Daily read God’s word and pray,
And for sure God will come to your aid without delay

God regards those who fail to comply with His requirements as unfaithful and disloyal to Christ, the Master Teacher, and to His cause. Parents need to learn that the children which God has intrusted to them are God’s Own heritage and not theirs. If they fail to respond to His earnest plea, what will they answer when He asks them, “Where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock? What wilt thou say when he shall punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail?.” (Jer. 13:20, 21.)
