Earth and heaven, God created,
On the first day He made light,
Light from darkness, He divided,
And the darkness He called night.

A firmament He created,
It was on the second day,
Both the waters it divided,
“It is good!” The Lord did say.

On the third day He made dry land;
Separated it from sea,
‘Earth’ is what He called the dry land,
He made every grass and tree.

He made great lights on the fourth day:
Sun and moon, for day and night;
The greater light to rule the day,
Lesser light to rule the night.

The sea creature He created,
And the fowl that flies above.
On the fifth day these were blessed,
The Great whale and, too, the dove.

On the earth He made the creature,
Cattle, creeping thing and beast.
On the sixth day, the best creature,
Man, was created at last.

On the seventh day He rested,
From the work which He had made.
So we do rest as He rested,
The Sabbath will never fade.
